Linux and Windows 2003 are types of operating systems that run as web servers.

Just because you use a Windows desktop PC doesn't mean you have to opt for Windows web hosting (and vica versa).

As long as you understand how to use your FTP or web publishing software, your can use either operating system to host your web site.

The areas you should look at when choosing which operating system you need to use are going to be based on which scripting languages and databases you will be using.

If you will be using only PHP, Perl and MySQL databases then Linux is probably the best choice. If you plan to use ASP, ASP.net and Access or MSSQL databases then Windows would be the choice (PHP, MySQL and Perl are also available in Windows)

If your site, is an online brochure which does not use scripting languages or databases Linux servers are ideal.
